and when might you need one?
Handala
Definition:
A Handala
is a little mandala
with carry-handles.
As invented by Sally Swain
in August, 2017
while waiting for her sister to ring back.
She began with a mini mandala, then couldn’t help herself. She followed her Creative Play Impulse to stray from the prescribed form. She added swirls on top. Handles.
Mandalas come in all shapes, sizes, cultures and times.
Some are even portable
(very Handy)
for those tricky moments when you need to self-soothe or re-enchant.
Oh this is just lovely, Sally. So sweet and soulful. I think I’ll go home and make a handala this afternoon ::))

Well I admit I had my little watercolour paint set out on the table ready to play while my sister read me her writings. So I was primed to paint. xxx

The handalas are lovely, but even lovelier is that your sister reads her writings to you. 🙂

Thank you, Gallivanta. That is sweet to read. I am taking your comment in. I’ve been thinking for a while of blogging about the Creative Support Partnership phone calls my sister and I have set up over the past year. Should I?

Absolutely. I would like to hear more. I think I do something similar with my daughter; it’s not intentional but I phone her every night in Australia, and recently she has been going over her creative ideas with me. She is very limited with technical equipment and software but this is the output so far is great https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvjeFKExKJRSydgevrWE9ww My daughter is the one who encouraged me to start blogging and using social media originally. Creative Support is vital, in my opinion.

Sounds as if your mother-daughter creative support exchange is flourishing.

PS I am very blessed to have a sister who is in sync with my creative journey.

Agreed. Sisters are a blessing, full stop. My sister carries a heavy burden of care because she is a full time carer for our parents. One bright spot for us each week is exclaiming over her arrangement of flowers; sometimes the flowers are bargains from the market. She didn’t believe she was good at flower arranging but through this weekly sharing she has grown in confidence and does wonderful arrangements.

That’s a beautiful story, Gallivanta. A spot of creative encouragement works wonders with confidence.
By the way, I chuckled today over my flower arrangement skills. I basically shoved jasmine into a vase. The push-and-prod school of flower arrangement.

Ha! That works every time. 🙂 Jasmine is so beautiful it really doesn’t need much arranging.
