No need to struggle,

strain or strive.

It’s fresh, 

spontaneous,

alive.

 

Do not fret and

do not force.

Creative flow is

at your source.

 

It sometimes slows

into a trickle –

cloggy, claggy,

muddy, fickle,

 

Prone to hide

or stick inside.

You think it’s gone.

The spring has dried.

 

You need to tend it.

Tend and trust.

Oh, that bit’s tough, 

but trust you must.

 

You need to pause,

to fill the well, 

to nourish every

arty cell.

 

You’ll find your source 

is here to stay.

It doesn’t ever 

go away.

 

It is both fragile

and resilient.
