Let’s look at Bird O’Clock Two
and continue to Celebrate Creative Community
as we mark One-Year-of-Blogging in the Month-of-May
Are you a Bird Nerd?
Am I?
Could
I be morphing into a tweeting fleeting fluttering bird-appreciator in my middle to old age?
I certainly paint birds.
Never realistic representationally correct birds, but the Sally version. And bird-women. There’s a whole history of my birdwomen creations spanning back to 1998 when a friend died and I absolutely had to paint Passionwing.
I called them the This-is-not-an-angel series. Should I share that story (and picture) in a separate piece on Art and Grieving?
As promised (or threatened) last week in Bird O’Clock One, I am sharing my second of two paintages.
Here’s how it began.

Here’s how it continued.

shapes emerge
Can you see the collaged Superb Fairy-Wren?
If you look carefully, with Young Eyes that don’t yet require optical assistance, you might see a collage quote: ‘the beauty of these little birds’. And this is right. Superb Fairy-Wrens are gorgeous. I love these arty darty Australian sweeties.
Then a woman appeared.

Thank you, Ms Minuscule, for your strong positive response. Shucks. Was ‘Bird O’Clock’ your turn of phrase, perhaps? I’m still trying to identify the originator.

We did communicate a long while back.
So glad you have come forward as the originator and inspirer.
Let’s see if I can cut and paste our communication from September last year….

Bird o’clock! Lovely. Inspires me to think of painting/collaging a little bird clock.

Love it, When I saw the headline Are you a bird nerd? I had to reply. And had no idea you were referring to me, because I was captivated by the art. Loved seeing the process of how it all began and the progression of where it took you, simply stunning and so happy I inspired you to create such a wonderful piece.

Thank you, Jade. Glad you love it. Now I’m inspired by your words ‘amazing eye’. Might THAT have to be a painting? Do I dare you to do it? Do I dare myself to do it?

Well…I am clearly a bird-nerd (though if I had tigers in my backyard I am sure I would be a tiger-nerd)…and found your piece thoroughly enjoyable. May creative blessings continue to flow to you and through you. 🙂

Thank you, Kathy, for your lovely message. I am now imagining small flying tigers in your backyard. Wooo. Life…and creativity…and things with wings are wondrous, are they not?

I am always available for jamming
Especially with a bird
